This title is very long compared to my way of writing. I got this title when I was watching one TEDx video where I heard a speaker quoting Rumi’s statement saying “why do you stay in prison when the door is wide open?” it suddenly came to my mind that I can make a perfect content out of this title and I started writing this.
The first thought I had when I heard this was that it’s true and how can we have never thought about it. Here when Rumi says this, she doesn’t mean real prison but she meant by showing you a hypothetical situation saying that you live in this wide-open world as a prisoner where right in front of you, you have every door open. What is it in your head that stops you to move forward towards that door?
When I think about it seriously with my life, I first notice that where am I stopping myself and for what?
We normally always think that if you do this particular thing then what will be the result and will that result will be worth all the troubles I will be going through or is that door open for me or not, should I go towards that door, will there be things through that door what I am expecting?
I say if we are wasting so much time thinking about all these instead, we can start thinking of taking the first step towards going towards that door. If not, then let’s just take the first step toward that door and look at what is waiting for us through that door. If we think that will create problems for us that kind of problem will come because I believe every problem comes with a solution and then if you know the problem and accepting it can give you a solution. But let’s just accept the hard truth that it’s never about the problems but it is always about our willpower of ourselves.
Till now what I have understood about things that we do not do is all about the willpower I have to do certain things. All we need to do is put one step forward and the next will come on its own. All you need is to gather the willpower and give your thoughts some rest because a door is not always open, it may get closed and then again you won’t be able to gather your willpower again so keeping everything aside let’s get ourselves out of prison and live a life of freedom.
